Chou\u2019s work, which blends theatre, film, and immersive technologies, has been presented internationally and recognized with honors including the<strong> Grand Prize at NewImages Festival<\/strong> (Paris) and the <strong>World Stage Design Award for Interactive and New Media.<\/strong><\/p><p>During this special session, Chou shared insights from his creative journey across performance, cinema, and extended reality, exploring the delicate intersections where <strong>technology, memory, and human emotion converge.<\/strong><\/p><p><br \/><strong>A poetic odyssey through perception, identity, and transformation<\/strong><\/p><p><em>Traversing the Mist<\/em> is a <strong>6DoF multi-user XR installation<\/strong> that invites participants to explore a surreal gay sauna \u2014 a dreamlike labyrinth of vapor, memory, and emotion.<br \/>Audiences embody the same figure: a young Taiwanese man navigating corridors that dissolve into mist, confronting reflections of desire and fear in a constantly shifting environment.<br \/>Blending live performance, 3D animation, and immersive interaction, the piece expands Chou\u2019s internationally celebrated <em>Trilogy of Mist (In the Mist, Gazing, in the Mist, and Traversing the Mist),<\/em> transforming intimate experience into shared virtual space.<\/p><p>Described by <em>Variety<\/em> as \u201ca dreamlike odyssey awash in fear and flesh,\u201d and hailed at <strong>NewImages Festival<\/strong> for its \u201cvisceral and embodied exploration of connection and identity,\u201d <em>Traversing the Mist<\/em> has been presented at <strong>Venice Immersive, Kaohsiung Film Festival,<\/strong> and <strong>IDFA DocLab<\/strong> \u2014 and now premieres in Spain for the first time at ESPRONCEDA.<\/p><p><br \/><strong>About the Artist \u2014 Chou Tung-Yen<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Chou Tung-Yen<\/strong> (Taiwan) is an award-winning theatre director, filmmaker, and scenographer whose work fuses <strong>live performance, digital technology, and poetic narrative.<\/strong><br \/>Founder of <strong>Very Theatre<\/strong> and <strong>Very Mainstream Studio<\/strong>, Chou explores the intersection of <strong>human emotion, technology, and queer identity<\/strong> through immersive storytelling and new media forms.<\/p><p>His <em>Trilogy of Mist<\/em> (2021\u20132023) \u2014 comprising <em>In the Mist<\/em> (Venice Film Festival 2021), <em>Gazing, in the Mist<\/em> (2022), and <em>Traversing the Mist<\/em> (2023) \u2014 reimagines intimacy in virtual space, blurring the
