EXUVIA – interdisciplinary performance installation
EXUVIA is an interdisciplinary performance installation directed by the artist Ailin Bars, which proposes an immersive experience where body, technology and matter are intertwined in real time.
The work merges visual arts, digital art, contemporary dance and live sound, building a performative ecosystem in which each gesture is simultaneously transformed into image, sound and stroke. Through the use of motion sensors, digital capture and generation systems, and interaction between performers and visual artists, the piece explores new forms of perception at the intersection of physical and digital.
EXUVIA is articulated in multiple simultaneous planes – scenic space, visual environment and digital dimension – where performative action, visual intervention and real-time audiovisual generation continuously dialogue, giving rise to an ephemeral composition in constant transformation.
In line with Bars’ artistic research, the body is understood as a sensitive interface capable of activating sound, light and image, revealing how movement can expand into multiple perceptual layers and generate a shared experience between performer, technology and viewer.
The event was developed in two complementary phases that allowed to deepen the capabilities of technology applied to art.
- The first part focused on technical exploration through motion sensors, turning the body into an interface capable of activating sound, light and image.
- The second part featured the active participation of Matías de la Sierra, whose intervention expanded the sound and performance dimension of the piece.
During the event, Ailin’s performance played a very important role, but works by Matías de la Sierra and Kris Pilcher were also presented, allowing the audience to get closer to the materiality behind digital art.
Within this exhibition, a key piece by Kris Pilcher stands out, developed entirely in our Maker Space. The work was produced using Bambu Lab’s 3D printing technology, demonstrating our laboratory’s potential to materialize complex digital concepts in tangible physical structures.
About the artists
Ailin Bars is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice lies at the intersection of body, technology and performative experimentation. Her work investigates the relationship between movement, perception and digital systems, developing immersive environments where live action translates into visual and sound language, exploring new forms of collective creation and expanded narrative.
Nicole Chufi is an audiovisual artist and experience designer who explores the relationship between sound, image and immersive technologies. His practice combines creative direction, interactive media and artificial intelligence, creating sensory experiences that connect emotion, narrative and technology in scenic and digital contexts. He has collaborated with international institutions and festivals such as Sónar Barcelona, TUMO or CYENS.
Matías De la Sierra is an Argentine visual artist and photographer whose practice develops between photography and contemporary art, with a focus on image construction, aesthetics and visual narrative. Her work explores contemporary visual identity and culture from a conceptual perspective, combining languages of art and fashion.
