ESPRONCEDA presents Per Aria, an immersive audiovisual performance for piano and light, within Constellation Lab 2026

On Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8:00 to 9:30 PM, ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture presented Per Aria, a new immersive audiovisual performance by Italian pianist, composer and producer Leonardo Cincinelli, created in collaboration with digital artist Diego Suárez Bárcena !ME(NOTme). Both sessions played to a full house, with audiences responding enthusiastically across the two nights.

Presented within the framework of Constellation Lab, the project explored the relationship between acoustic music, generative visual environments, and spatial perception, through a format that moved beyond the traditional concert experience.

Blurring the boundaries between performance, installation, and digital scenography, Per Aria transformed ESPRONCEDA into a living environment in which piano, light, and electronic media interacted in real time. Through a carefully orchestrated dialogue between sound and image, the piece invited audiences into an immersive landscape in which the visible and the invisible continuously shaped one another.

At the center of the experience stood the piano — not only as an instrument, but as a symbolic and physical presence. Light became an active performer, responding to the musical composition through projections, atmospheres, and spatial interventions that unfolded across the architecture of the room. Visual and sonic elements merged into a single expressive language, producing a series of evolving states that emerged, transformed, and dissolved before the audience.

A Journey Through Transformation

Conceived as a meditation on cycles of creation, transformation, and renewal, Per Aria reflected on the fragile processes through which forms, ideas, and identities emerge. Drawing on natural rhythms and human experience, the piece explored themes of emergence, impermanence, and interconnection.

Within this suspended environment, uncertainty became a creative force. Rather than offering fixed narratives, the performance opened a contemplative space in which audiences were invited to engage with ambiguity, imagination, and the act of perception itself.

The title Per Aria — Italian for “through the air” — refers to the invisible medium through which both sound and light travel. At the same time, it evokes a state of suspension between presence and absence, matter and immateriality, reality and possibility. The work proposed a sensory encounter that did not require full comprehension to be deeply felt — an approach that resonated strongly with both audiences, who filled the space on both nights and stayed engaged through the full performance and into conversation afterward.

About the Artists

Leonardo Cincinelli is an Italian pianist, composer, and producer based in Barcelona. His practice explores the intersection of live instrumental performance, electronic production, and improvisation, creating hybrid formats that bridge contemporary music and immersive experience. He is the founder of the Art.eria Acoustic Electronic Ensemble and La Otra Jam, and has developed numerous interdisciplinary collaborations integrating sound, visual arts, and spatial design.

Diego Suárez Bárcena !ME(NOTme) is a Spanish digital artist, creative technologist, and visual designer based in Barcelona. Through generative art, real-time audiovisual systems, and interactive media, his practice investigates the evolving relationship between technology, perception, and human experience. Alongside his artistic work, he teaches audiovisual disciplines at BAU, Escola Superior de Disseny de Barcelona.

About Constellation Lab

Constellation Lab is a collaborative infrastructure connecting professionals, researchers, cultural institutions, and technology organizations across Catalonia. The initiative facilitates access to advanced technologies — including extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence, and robotics — through research, prototyping, and cross-sector collaboration. By fostering knowledge exchange between cultural, scientific, academic, and technological communities, Constellation Lab strengthens the region’s innovation ecosystem while generating open resources, methodologies, and opportunities for collective experimentation and impact.

About NUBIA Labs

Per Aria is presented within the framework of NUBIA Labs 2026, ESPRONCEDA’s professional incubation and support programme dedicated to projects in digital art and spatial computing, including XR technologies (AR/VR/MR), creative artificial intelligence, real-time interactive installations, and immersive environments.
